Clinical Supervision for LCSWAs in North Carolina

Working toward your LCSW is about more than completing supervision hours. It's also a time to develop your clinical judgment, strengthen your skills, navigate challenging cases, and figure out who you want to be as a social worker.

I provide clinical supervision for LCSWAs in North Carolina who are working toward full LCSW licensure.

My approach to supervision is collaborative, supportive, and practical. We'll make space for case consultation, clinical skill development, ethical questions, professional boundaries, documentation, and the situations that don't always have an obvious answer in a textbook.

My goal isn't to turn you into a clinician who practices exactly like I do. It's to help you strengthen your own clinical judgment, recognize your strengths and areas for growth, and become increasingly confident making thoughtful, ethical decisions in your work.

What We Can Work On in Supervision

Supervision will look different depending on your experience, work setting, clinical population, and professional goals. Some areas we may focus on include:

  • Case conceptualization and clinical decision-making

  • Assessment, treatment planning, and documentation

  • Developing and implementing clinical interventions

  • Trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice

  • Working with anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns

  • Working with children, adolescents, adults, and families

  • Boundaries, countertransference, and use of self

  • Ethical dilemmas and navigating situations without a clear-cut answer

  • Risk assessment, safety concerns, and difficult clinical situations

  • Building confidence in your clinical judgment

  • Professional identity and finding your own therapeutic style

  • Preparing for greater independence as you work toward full LCSW licensure

Supervision is also a place to bring the moments when you're thinking, “I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to do with this.” You don't have to already know the answer, that's part of what supervision is for.

What Supervision With Me Is Like

I want supervision to be a space where you can be honest about what you know, what you're still learning, and the moments when you're unsure of yourself without feeling like you're being evaluated for having questions.

My style is conversational and supportive, but I'm also willing to challenge you. I'll ask questions that help you think through your clinical decisions rather than simply telling you what I would do. We'll explore different perspectives, consider ethical and clinical implications, and connect what you're learning to the work you're actually doing.

You can expect feedback that is direct but constructive, opportunities to recognize your strengths and growth, and support identifying areas where you may need additional development.

There will also be room to talk about the realities of being a clinician—the difficult cases, mistakes, self-doubt, boundaries, burnout, workplace challenges, and the occasional “Was that the right thing to say?” moment.

The goal is for you to leave supervision not just knowing what to do next, but understanding why you're doing it and feeling more confident in your ability to make clinical decisions independently.

Supervision Options & Fees

Individual Clinical Supervision

$100 per 60-minute session

Individual supervision provides dedicated time to focus on your clinical work, professional development, and specific supervision needs. Sessions may include case consultation, skill development, ethical decision-making, documentation, professional boundaries, and other areas related to your growth as a clinical social worker.

Group Clinical Supervision

$50 per person, per 60-minute session

Group supervision offers an opportunity to learn not only from supervision, but also from the experiences and perspectives of other LCSWAs. Groups are kept small to allow time for meaningful case consultation, discussion, feedback, and skill development.

Group supervision is offered based on current availability and interest.

Free 15-Minute Consultation

Finding the right clinical supervisor matters. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can discuss your current role, supervision needs, professional goals, scheduling, and what you're looking for in a supervisor.

It's also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether my supervision style feels like a good fit for you.

Getting Started

If you're an LCSWA in North Carolina looking for clinical supervision, the first step is making sure we're a good fit.

During a free 15-minute consultation, we'll talk about your current clinical role, the population you work with, your professional goals, your supervision needs, and any questions you have about working together.

If we decide to move forward, we'll review expectations for supervision, scheduling, documentation, communication between sessions, and the information needed to establish our supervisory relationship.

A Note About North Carolina Requirements

LCSWAs are responsible for understanding and meeting the current requirements established by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board. We'll work together to track and document supervision appropriately, but I encourage all supervisees to stay familiar with current Board requirements throughout the licensure process.
